During the 2022 Expo Construir which was held in the Hilton Hotel and convened representatives, entrepreneurs, political authorities, the voices of the sector demanded the Legislative Branch advance on the referral of the declaration of assets for construction “to help reactivate the activity and the economy”. 

In this framework the CEO of the GNV Group, Iván Ginevra, expressed that “it is a measure which would generate an immediate entry of foreign currency to the country, generating an offer of dollars and a demand for pesos to be applied directly to an activity with one of the highest multiplying effects as it is business construction”.

In turn, the developer considered that “this decision would speed up the recovery of an activity which has a high impact on employment all over the country”.

“This sector is key for the reactivation of economic activity and measures such as the declaration of assets which is attractive for generating investment in a central trade for the generation of direct employment and the reactivation of the real estate market in the country”, said Ginevra.

For his part, Damian Tabakman, the president of the Business Chamber of Urban Developers (Cámara Empresaria de Desarrolladores Urbanos) pointed out that “in a context like the current one, it is an opportunity for the Government, for the sector and for the economy”.

On a panel held in the framework of the exhibition, the members of constructors and developers claimed for an extension of the declaration of capital to the present authorities “as a tool which would enable a boost in the economy”. 

Finally, during the event the president of the Argentine Chamber of Real Estate Alejandro Bennazar confirmed that “together, all the spectrum of the Argentine Real Estate holds that it is of utmost importance that used housing be seen as beneficial for the investor in order to be incorporated immediately as a great offer to the locative housing market”.

It is worth remembering that at the end of 2021 Congressman Cristian Ritondo (political party – Juntos por el Cambio), and the president of the House of Representatives, Sergio Massa (political party – Frente de Todos) carried out a joint presentation to extend the deferral which has not yet been addressed.  

The Rent Law

The Rent Law was another of the subjects of the day with repeated requests for the modification of key articles such as the duration of the contract and indexing methods.

On this subject, Ivan Ginevra emphasized that “this law must be improved and I believe we are able to work together, public and private sectors in order to achieve this”. The sector hopes that in the next few days there will be new interest in the initiative by the different political forces which integrate the Congress “to inject investment into Argentina’s current recessive framework”.
